Dinner to help raise funds for injured wrestler

The friends and family of Carl Riccio, the Watchung Hills Regional High School wrestler who sustained a severe neck injury during a match in February, are hosting a fund-raiser next month to offset payments for his long-term care and recovery.

A reception and dinner honoring "Carl, The Ultimate Warrior, Riccio" will be held at Mayfair Farms in West Orange on May 27 from 7 to 11 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on items for auction, including sporting events and items related to travel, fashion, home decor and fitness.

Tickets may be purchased for $100 per person at Sports Minded Unlimited, 165 Washington Valley Road, and Warren Health & Racquet Club, 149 Mount Bethel Road, online at www.carlricciotrust.com or by calling (212) 696-6692 . Those who are unable to attend but wish to contribute to the fund may send donations to the Carl Riccio Special Needs Trust, P.O. Box 4422, Warren, N.J., 07059.

Riccio, a junior, had a 26-0 record and was ranked No. 7 at 189 pounds by The Star-Ledger at the time of his injury. He won his third Somerset County Tournament title in December.
